General Information

The Davidson County Board of Elections operates under a three member board appointed every two years by the State Board of Elections. The present board consists of: Chairman – H. L. (Doc) Hill; and Members: Jon Myers and Rosa R. Terry.

The election office is responsible for registering all eligible voters who meet age and residency requirements. Mail-in registration forms are available in all public libraries. Citizens may also register or make changes to their registration through the Department of Motor Vehicles while they are obtaining or renewing a driver’s license.

Once registered, a person is able to vote in the precinct in which he or she is registered until such time as they move out of that precinct. Walletsize voter ID cards are mailed to all new voters and those who change their name, party, or address.

Persons moving from one location to another within the county may use the form on the back of their voter ID card or call the Elections Office to request a form in the mail to change their address and/or name. Registration books close 25 days prior to any given election.

At the present time, there are 42 voting precincts in Davidson County. The Board of Elections appoints a Chief Judge, Democratic Judge, and a Republican Judge for each precinct. In addition, the Board appoints Assistants as necessary for each precinct depending on the type election being held.

You may e-mail the Board of Elections with questions or comments at rhuneycu@co.davidson.nc.us.

For questions regarding registration and absentee ballots, call (336) 242-2190.

VOTER REGISTRATION BOOKS WILL CLOSE 25 DAYS PRIOR TO ANY PRIMARY, SPECIAL OR GENERAL ELECTION.
